SATURN – THE PERFORMER

One of the most feared planets by the masses; but the person who understands its true worth, rises high in his/her life.
It’s an old saying that there is no shortcut to success and this particular planet is right there to make you realize this each and every day of our life.

Who Is Saturn?
Saturn, the Son of Surya and brother of Yama, is not bound to give us results just on the basis of where he is placed in our horoscope. He judges our actions (KARMA) and then rewards us. He doesn’t spare anyone from passing his judgment. From Lord Shiva, his creator, to every living being, everyone is under his scanner. He favors those who believe in actions.
It is observed that his sight creates a lot of obstacles / hurdles in our life and he is the only one who can make a person rise from Rags to Riches.

Representation
Saturn represents actions, obstacles, delays, profession but what it most importantly represents is Confirmation. As said above, if a person performs all his tasks dutifully, Saturn is surely going to reward him. He likes sincerity in work. He likes everything clean and transparent, and that is the reason his role in this KALIYUG is very daunting as we fail daily to perform our duties faithfully.
The reason we fear him is that, in our life, every day we commit mistakes or we may call it as bad karmas, knowingly or unknowingly which we don’t keep account for. But Saturn has it all accounted. So this planet in return slows our things or creates obstacles. Because of this we go under severe mental pressure. And that’s the game all about…. He doesn’t spoil our work; he just brings agony to our mind.
Good karmas bring Rewards and Bad Karmas bring Agony.
Not only karmas in this life, he has a record of our past live karmas also. On this net result things materialize and unfold in this life span. He will be keeping record for our next lives as well. Anything left undone has to be borne in the next birth.

Sade Sati
The transit of Saturn in One house before the natal Moon, In the sign of natal Moon and One sign after natal Moon is termed as SADE SATI which lasts for a period of 7.5 Years. The much feared SADE SATI of Saturn is hard but it is surely not consistently BAD. It’s the time when we are Punished, Taught and then finally Rewarded. The total time for a SADE SATI, 7.5 Years, is divided into equal periods of 2.5 Years. During this time we face maximum mental tensions, depressions & agony because Moon which represents our mind is heavily afflicted at this point of time. Saturn does not bring an end or obstacle to our life, but it is this time when our mind is affected and due to this we ourselves commit mistakes which add to our problems.

Dasha Cycle
Saturn has been given a time cycle, popularly known as Dasha Cycle of 19 Years. It is not fixed when this time cycle of Saturn will begin in a person’s horoscope. Some people are born under Saturn Dasha; some have it in the early stages of their life and some during the later parts of their life. Some people don’t even get this span of cycle in their entire life. In my opinion, it is good to have this cycle in our early stages of life. During our growing stages this Saturn shows us the practical part of the life. We can overcome obstacles/hurdles or delays in our early stages. During the mid-cycle when we our married and have children, hurdles at that time cause more problems and delays and can be frustrating. During our old age it creates hurdles and brings pain to body. By that time we must have accumulated so much of Karmic Backlog that now it’s the time for repayment. And this repayment can be very painful during the time when we are ourselves struggling with life.
So what we should see Saturn as, is an Old teacher, who wants to guide us and make us understand the values and principles of life. It will teach us consistently, so that we evolve and get better with each passing day.

UNDERSTANDING THE NAADI SYSTEM OF ASTROLOGY

Astrology is one of the oldest sciences where the hidden answers are brought in light using different principles and methods. The planetary combinations used are different and yet the result derived comes to the same. Over a period of time different methods have been brought forward, such as the Prashari System, KP System etc. With this write up today I would like to bring out one such method from the great sages. Sage Bhrigu had given us this form of astrology popularly known as the Naadi Astrology or BHRIGU NAADI ASTROLOGY.
After years of experience and research work done by many learned astrologers, certain elements have been given in order to predict. The planets have been divided into groups of Benefic and Malefic and the 12 houses are divided into TRINES, KENDRA, AND TRIKS.

TRINES: 1,5,9
QUADRANTS: 1,4,7,10
TRIKS: 6,8,12

Unlike other systems of astrology where Lagna is given great importance in a birth chart, in this method Jupiter is taken as the Jeeva Atma. The predictions are made according to the rounds of Jupiter and the event taking place will be in order when Jupiter touches other natal planets in the chart. Jupiter, the Jeeva Atma, takes 12 years to complete One full cycle and return back to its natal position. It stays in one sign for a period of 1 year. Here, I would like to request the readers to ignore the Retrograde motion of this planet as this will be dealt separately in a different article. In the 1st round of Jupiter that is from the age 1 – 12 years the results will be bestowed upon the individual for himself or herself. In the 2nd Round, age 12 – 24 years, the results will be for the Family and Money. 3rd Round, age 26 – 36 years, will contribute towards the Courage, Travelling and siblings and so on the 4th, 5th, 6th round.
Apart from the usual planetary aspects of planets, in the Naadi system of Astrology, great importance is given to the Trinal conjunctions. For example, if Sun is Placed in Aries and Moon in Leo and Saturn and Rahu in Sagittarius, the equation will be Sun + Moon + Saturn + Rahu. To delineate and give a prediction for the father, this particular equation will have to be considered. Also, in Naadi Astrology, the significations of the planet are taken into consideration for predicting the combinations formed.
Out of many significations each planet signifies, some of them have been given below as it is not possible to list out all of them. Below are the significations of different planets:

SUN: Father, Government, Soul, Temple, Status, Name and Fame, Etc.
MOON: Mother, Mind, Water, Milk, Ocean, Foreign Travel, Etc.
MARS: Confidence, Brother, Husband (In female horoscopes), Etc.
MERCURY: Education, Intelligence, Sometimes Second Wife, Etc.
VENUS: Money, Wife (In Male Chart), Sisters, Daughters, Etc.
JUPITER: The Life Force, Jeeva Atma.
SATURN: Profession, Delays, Hurdles, Death, Etc.
RAHU & KETU: They form the family circle and beginning and end of the Road

In the next post we will be discussing the signification of different houses along with the direction of houses and how they play an important role to predict certain sectors of our life.

THE MYSTIQUE OF VEDIC ASTROLOGY UNVEILED

Vedic astrology is the traditional system of astrology of India that is at least 4000 years old. It is also known as Jyotish, Indian astrology, or Hindu astrology and has recently gained popularity in the West due it’s in depth study for predicting events and trends in our lives.
Vedic Astrology, is the fundamental form of astrology. Vedic Astrology is an important part of the ancient scriptural texts of India, known as Vedas that existed thousands of years ago in the Indian subcontinent. Vedas are the source of knowledge and has six main parts. Hindu Vedic Astrology is the eyes of Vedas. In today’s world, Vedic Astrology is acknowledged as the most powerful & practiced astrology worldwide.
According to the Vedic philosophy, what would happen to a person in this life is predetermined and a lot depends on the deeds i.e. Karma of our past lives. Here this is important to mention that Vedic Astrology is the only science that provides us the guidance to improve this critical factor.
This is the hard fact that nobody on this earth can stop the rain from falling. However, this depends on you, whether you wish to carry and utilize an umbrella to protect yourself from the falling water or not.
The sole purpose of Vedic astrology is to make people aware about the upcoming probable events, challenges and opportunities in his / her life. This priceless knowledge can be used for taking better decisions and making life better in many aspects. The prior knowledge of future events is a powerful tool that helps to plan in advance, take smarter decisions and be better equipped to handle things. It empowers a person to plan proactively, giving him better control on their life, progress and happiness.
As per Hindu astrology, there are twelve zodiac signs, nine planets and twelve houses. The twelve signs are distributed in the twelve houses and the placement of nine planets in different houses is done according to the birth time of a person. This type of distribution of the planets on the basis of time, place and date of birth, is termed as birth chart, natal chart or horoscope chart. A birth chart reflects the strength of a planet in the chart – its sign, house, aspects, house lordship and conjunctions.

Interpretive Differences between Western and Vedic Astrology
A natal chart or a birth chart reading reveals the differing sign and house changes of planets in the Vedic chart.
For example, suppose, according to Western astrology, your Sun sign is in Capricorn. In the Vedic system, it could be in Sagittarius. Your rising sign and the other planets might also be in unfamiliar signs. However, this does not mean that Vedic astrology is inaccurate. It simply calculates a horoscope differently. The interpretations are most often more precise than in Western astrology.
Western astrology emphasizes the psychological nature of the individual, but lacks reliability for predicting future cycles and events. Although Vedic astrology also defines a person’s psychological nature, it gives more focus to understanding when certain events are likely to take place.
Vedic astrology gives a better view of:
  • A person’s karmic tendencies
  • When such tendencies are likely to manifest for that person.
The times of life events are shown through a detailed system of planetary time cycles, called “Dashas”. There is no corresponding method in Western astrology. Western astrologers, who make a study of it, often find themselves converting to Vedic astrology because of its greater scope, depth for guiding the future.
I personally believe “If you can’t be a good counselor, You can’t be a good Astrologer.” In a belief to carry out the responsibility for predicting the “future” for many individuals, there are times when predictions fail. People start believing that astrology is all a waste of time and no such thing happens. But over a period, time has made me realize and has made me grow in a better way is that, do not use Astrology, Tarot, Numerology, etc. or any of these for predictive purpose. These are more like guiding factors.
The path of Karma has to be followed by hook or by crook, but if you get someone to guide you and who can identify this, he is the person you should be looking to. Therefore the main objective should be to guide an individual see the right path and to help him / her flap their wings in the right direction at the right place.
